Got inked

Crossed a few bridges

Tried skinnydipping

Just danced!

Showed off my pitching arm

Zari version 2.0

On Wednesday Zari had his surgery to remove his adenoids and put tubes in his ears. This should hopefully make him breathe better, sleep better, and hear better (can you tell we have high hopes for this???). Although it was a bit anxiety-provoking, the whole experience was not that bad. John and I were super impressed with the efficiency of CCMC and how good they are at making kids feel comfortable. Zari drove up to the operating room in a little red car, laughing and smiling all the way. I carried him in and held his hands while he was put to sleep. He was back in our arms as he was waking up, so he was never felt alone or afraid. And much to our surprise, he was up and playing later that afternoon. The next day you would never even know he had anything done. He is definitely a trooper!

Here are some pics of the day:

7 am arrival at the hospital

Happy right up until the surgery... our good little patient!

All done! Back with Mommy

Sleeping peacefully

He did not want to wake up!

Back home and playing later that day. Can't keep this kid down!

Teanna gets her hair "did'!

Mommy and Teanna had a nice "girls day" on Friday, and Teanna got to spend the afternoon at the beauty salon! Now that she is a little older, she likes getting her hair done and hanging out with the ladies : )

First, she got her hair washed

Then, she sat under the "space ship" (and the nice lady next to her gave her a cookie!)

Next she got her hair blown out straight

After the braiding and beads, she was done!

It's fun to clink the beads together

"I whip my hair back and forth"

I feel very pretty!

Zari's First Haircut

Before:

After:

Yeah I probably let that 'fro go on a little longer than I should have...

Big Things

T and Z both hit some awesome milestones during January-February. Time for me to be "that mom" and brag about them!

Teanna: In January we decided to make our second attempt at potty training (the first being the week of her 2nd birthday, which was a total bust). We went from epic failure to epic success! Our tactic was to go cold turkey. We picked a day and told her that would be the last day for her to wear diapers. Each day we counted down to it. When that day came, we went to Aunt Christina's house with all our diapers in hand, and passed them on to baby AJ. Then Teanna started wearing her big girl underwear. She had no idea how to use the potty at this point so it was a bit scary. After only 3 days, the concept had completely CLICKED and we have not had any accidents since. The two M&Ms she gets for going are still a huge motivator.

Zari: Zari took his first two steps on January 29. During the month of February he slooooowly but surely progressed to walking all around. He still sometimes opts for crawling when he wants to get somewhere with lightning speed, but walking is becoming his norm now. It looks a bit robotic and Frankenstein-esque which is very cute.

Ok I promise the next post will include some pictures.

YIKES!

Have I really not blogged in almost 2 months??? Yikes. Going to fix this now!
